In the B2 samples, the pH was very low and the concentrations of biological acids high ( Table 3 ), and the proportion of lactic acid bacteria was extremely high ( Fig. 2 ). That can perhaps be explained by the assortment method in the plant B region, where compostable waste is collected in starch bags and only from multi-storey houses, and so does not contain any garden waste. With assortment in plastic bags (normal plastic or starch plastic) the material does not dry out as much as with assortment in paper bags. This, as well as the higher temperatures in the summer, may have increased acid formation and so lowered the pH in the waste. As pH and DM were correlated in the waste samples investigated ( Table 3 ), it would appear that food waste intended for composting should be collected together with drier materials also uniform for composting, like pot plants, tissue paper, garden waste and cat litter.

Bioplastics – are they the reply?

Currently, manufacturers are not responsible for the stop-life of their products. Once an item leaves their factories, it's no longer the company's problem. Therefore, we don't have a system by which adopters of these new bioplastics would be responsible for recovering, composting, recycling, or doing whatever requirements to be done with them after use. Regarding toxicity, the same broken and ineffective regulatory system is in charge of approving bioplastics for food use, and there is no reason to think that these will not raise only as plenty health concerns as normal plastics have. Yet again, it will be an uphill battle to ban those that turn out to be dangerous.

I am trying hard to only acquire biodegradable bags and found these for a big value and the Shipping was super fast They can handle quite a bit. I don't like the fact of normal yard bags not ever going anywhere they will live method past us or our children.
